Lightforged by Belvane Lightforged by Belvane
A more accurate name for this would be 'procrastination'; Had to take a break from everything else and treated myself to working on the current commission, which is my first Lightforged draenei, which meant prepping the model; and then I got distracted by the markings, and since this isn't a commission for anyone I'm unhindered by such things as good taste so I put in ALL THE SPARKLES.

For the record, I dislike the Lightforged draenei already; as if Warcraft's world - or any world - needs more beings believing they are the ultimate and only authority for what's good and right. I have faith in Blizzard to actually swing this to have those righteous zealots have a good reality slap to wake them up to such things as pluralism and accepting the other, but I have no such faith in roleplayers' good taste; and the lack of good taste, I deeply believe, should really be only reserved for the gross overuse of sparkles.

I still don't have a good computer to use a software to learn how to do it, but you inspired me to create role-playing scenes.
Its very funny to compose it. Thanks!

You know, no matter how many times I'll be told that thing, it will still likely be the best compliment I could get as an artist. To have inspired someone - that's a great honour. Thank you, and have the best, best of luck.

I play WoW using the lowest graphics lol. But when I'll create something, I print the place and insert the character there using photoshop. WoW Model Viewer is awesome, but there are a lot of problems crashing, some items don't display at the characters and I don't know how to remove the aliasing. Do you know If I can remove aliasing at the model viewer?

Hey, I'm sorry I can't help you, I don't work with that aspect of WMV. Ask around the community, I'm sure someone knows :) Good luck!

I'd say there's something to starting out a Lightforged as a blind zealot, and then opening their eyes so to speak through RP. Maybe not instantly, but doing so gradually could make for fun character development. Just an opinion though.

Thoughts aside, really nice work making the gold look textured.

Thanks for the lovely compliment! What you present is great for storytelling, I agree; however, my experience with zealot characters left me thinking that while they're great for a one-off, if they're regulars in your group their character concept means everyone else needs to constantly compromise their own character's integrity. The thought is usually along the lines of 'oh, OOC feelings come before IC fun; my character would never tolerate being treated the way this zealot treats them, or not intervening when a zealot is being harsh on others, but I'll bend my character so the player can enjoy themselves'. They do it to be nice out of character, sometimes at the cost of their own enjoyment, and while it generates interest, in a group of non-zealots, and in the long run - and character developments like growing out of zealotry take time if done right, narrative-wise - I find it was simply impractical.

The light reflecting off those golden markings is absolutely stunning, and I want a Lightforged draenei based on this picture alone. You've sold it to me 5000% better than Blizzard did. (Glitter is my kryptonite and I love it soooo much.) There's something really powerful and regal about this, even with the Disney-level of glitter-glam. It all ties in together really gorgeous-looking.

Awh, Rowboat, thank you! Isn't glitter awesome? I'm secretly still the 80s six years old who used to collect scented erasers only for the sparkly little boxes they came in, and it's always such a treat to find someone who feels the same. And thank you for the sweet, sweet words! I'm happy to make a picture of your Lightforged when she or he happens, if you give me permission to sparkle it to death.

Trout, hello! Thank you, first of all - and second, I rather got my fingers tickling to pick up on that ancient commission with BB's fishing adventure - or, rather, I think I have the technique to make it now, which I didn't back then. I'm nose-deep in other things and will be so until mid-January or so, but on the off-chance you still want that, I'd be happy to give it a go. Not sure I can deliver... but would love to try.

Hi Bell, you had me at ‘tickling’.
Let me refine the brief over the next few weeks and let’s see how we can make it a reality. =)

I mean, at least the Lightforged have a reason to be zealots. Thousands of years of war in the stars will do something to people. I'm fine with that if it means Turalyon returns to the Alliance as hinted at in the Blizzcon demo.

Opinions aside, this is a very good piece. :)

Um, you make sense, and I think you're right. From a storytelling point of view, it's good. To roleplay, erh. I guess it's my age; I'm so, so very tired of Batmans. Blind conviction / angst is something I personally find more tedious and immature than coating your room with gummy bears.

Opinions aside... thank you :)
