I remember you saying, when you posted the Stranglethorn pictures, that you regretted not being able to capture everything. I can't recall exactly, but even if I'm totally misremembering this point'll stand --

You had about 30 images from that expedition so you captured a huge amount, but sure, you can never capture everything. But I felt you'd captured everything. I think you got every major event. I look through those pictures and I can see the thread of our journey very clearly.

And then there was this, and the picture of Nicolette hanging in the tree.

Those two pictures, completely unexpected, completely unneeded to tell the story, complete it. In them, at least for me, you captured the downtime and casual RP. The stuff which might've not been what we accomplished in Stranglethorn, but was certainly what we did. Our characters lived and breathed there for a while. The story wouldn't be quite complete without that, would it? But you got it.

And I feel both of them show different sides quite well, too. Though that's definitely only my perception -- I associate this one with the night we were in that camp in the mountains, still feeling the darkness of our escape, when Kithoras brought Wrak out and Alvarro got talking about healing him. Leopard Nap is light, humid, sluggish. This one I associate with tiny, dark, cramped and hunted, even if looks like something else. We saw both of those sides in the expedition.

One of the things I like most about the picture is the fact her face is so close to his and you notice she's as torn up as he is. That gets me. Initially I was surprised to see her without her full armour -- I don't usually undress her. But I think that plays into it as well. An armoured Halock would be a different picture. Not a bad picture. The one I'd expect to see. But not this one. And this one has a relationship between them I don't think the other would match because she doesn't completely overshadow him.

Otherwise, it just plays totally into what I like. I am a sucker for colour and the greens and browns and orange and pop, that blue -- so rich, so great. And for meaningless details! Those beautiful bandages, entwined around her fingers. The flare of his wings. The cuffs on her sleeves. The matted hair. The light of her eyes on her brows. The glint of her shoulder plate.

I love her feet particularly. They feel so planted. They convince me very much that she is there, in that forest.

There's one detail though I actually didn't notice until a second ago. Or rather I did, I saw it, but I didn't piece it together. And it's quite possibly the best thing about it.

The birds in the background.
